The Best Winter Wedding is Achievable with these Tips
Winter Weddings are truly magical and they set a great scene to say your vows and promise to spend the rest of your life with your soul mate. If you’re planning to have a winter wedding, we’ve got your back! There are some tips and things to keep in mind when tying the knot during the cold season, so let’s go ahead and discuss that:
Visit Venue at Night
Because the sun goes down super early during the winter season, the majority of your event will take place during the nighttime. So, you need to be prepared for it beforehand. Arrange a visit to your venue after the sun goes so you can see the type of lighting that is required. You may also want to have a chat about it with your wedding photographer.
You should think about investing in winter accessories such as a chic faux fur coat or even a warm cape to wear on your big day. Also, get some thick leggings to wear under the dress so your legs don’t freeze. Oh, and you may also want to wear stylish winter boots cause walking in heels in the snow is not practical.
Play Around with Colors and Textures
Don’t just settle for white; play around with pops of colors and textures to really make your wedding stand out. If you have a snowy setting for your wedding, little pops of colors will really stand out. Start with some fun colored flowers, napkins, and maybe even some indoor décor. As for textures, we think wool, velvet, and plaid are the best pick.
Same Venue for the Ceremony and Reception
Because it’s super hard to travel in the snow, we recommend having both events at the same venue. This will not only save a lot of travel time but also helps to cut the costs.
Hand Warmers for Guests
If you are having an outdoor wedding ceremony, let your guests know beforehand so they can come prepared with coats and winter boots. They can keep an extra pair of shoes to wear during the reception when the party moves indoors. Handing out hand warmers to your guests makes for a super thoughtful wedding favor while also letting them know that you care about them.
We recommend keeping a few different warm accessories to wear during your winter wedding photoshoot. A fun colored blanket makes for a very romantic and cozy prop to use during your couple photoshoot. You may also want to start the shoot a bit early during the day because the sun goes down early. It is certainly possible to have a magical day-time wedding shoot outside if you time things perfectly.
Candles, Candles, Candles
Candles should be your best friend during a winter wedding. Not only do they add some extra light but also give off a very warm and cozy vibe.
Since all your guests will be wearing coats, make sure to keep a coat hanger and assign someone to look after them during the reception.
